I read your post, byrdman, before I put in this post and I already examined the grounding of the coil. I ran a wire from the negative terminal of the battery and touched it to various places on the coil mount and found nothing that would get rid of the arcing. I also used a volt meter to test for a ...

CA77 points arcing

Dear Dreamers I've been wrestling all summer to get a 305 running like it did last year. Some of you have read my post on the carburetion problem. While working on that I had the contact points cover off and noticed that when cranking the engine, there was arcing between the points. I've read earlie...

Well its two weeks later and I'm back and I haven't advanced the ball much. I ordered a box of o-rings and put nice big fat new ones in the carb spacer and the carb itself. Nice of you to offer, but I can't believe it's a rebuilding issue. The carb worked fine on the other bike. It's strange that the carb spacer help only partially. I'm thinking there's a bad seal on the engine side of the intake and the "make a gasket" goop didn't seal it completely. I need a new o ri...

I believe that's a set of instructions for a bike with 2 carbs. My bike, a CA77 has only one carb.

I'm not sure where this FAQ section is but what else is there aside from the float level, the air mixture crew and the idle speed screw?

OK I'm making progress! I swapped carb spacers last night and used this "make a gasket" goop to help seal it. Both spacers had flattened o rings and the one in the problem bike was a little worse than the other. Anyway, with the new gooped up spacer, I can now get the bike to run at a normal speed. ...
