Been reading thru many posts on clutch info , Loud Mouse had a good description on the 3 waves of clutch plate configurations and different clutch centers ect , I could not find in my Honda shop manual the spec on the steel plate thickness either A or B types , does anyone have the thicker base plat...

Barnett Clutch

Spoke to Barnett and that thick base plate made of Magnesium is dates back to pre-1965 when they were located in Huntington Park before the move to the current Ventura , Ca location. The friction plates were the oldies as well , I am working with them on using their new plates and springs .

64 CB77 Clutch and shift shaft question

After doing some detective work I found that the washer that was on the shift shaft came from the top of the primary chain tensioner spring ( as shown in the parts schematic ) , someone though it belonged on the shift shaft not the top of the tensioner spring , not only was it hanging up the shift s...

Where to hold crank while tightening crank drive sproket L/S

I have heard a few methods of performing this task , I prefer to hold the crank some where while tightening any crank nut ( if possible ) , the engine is in the frame hooked up to chain ect , what is the preferred and correct method and and what is the proper torque figure ( unable to find in the fa...

CB 77 SUPER HAWK SHIFT SHAFT AND CLUTCH QUESTIONS

Thanks for the info , I think the shift shaft was hanging up because of the 14mm washer on the shift shaft , there was no end play at all with it installed , after doing some researching it appears they may have taken suspect 14mm washer from the primary chain tensioner arm spring seat ( perhaps a l...

CB 77 SUPER HAWK SHIFT SHAFT AND CLUTCH QUESTIONS

Just pulling apart my newest 64 ' CB77 project , clutch plates were stuck together and they appear to be early Barnett types. The base plate at the bottom of the center clutch hub has " Huntington Park " and " BTE " cast into the plate or spacer as the clutch has only 5 friction plates and 4 steel w...
