It might be worth trying to do some failure analysis on that. Did the shock have its oil? Could that have been the result of the shock bottoming out against that retainer. Which side was that on, the chain side or the other side? Is the swingarm square with the frame? Can it twist? Are the bushes in...

Very interesting information about the crankcase volume. So here's a stupid idea; use the pumped air of the crankcase to feed the carburetor. It would require a reed valve on the crankcase air inlet, but the result would be a supercharged engine.

Two thoughts;

Is there a reason why the designers might have done that deliberately?

Could the brake shoe have been bent during its lifetime?

Nice to see something being put together by someone who sweats the details.

New Dream 305 owner

Hi all. I now have a 67 Dream 305. It needs to be put back on the road but it is complete. Thinking in terms of performance improvements for a daily drive type use, I have looked at the big bore kit.
