Yeah, my plan is to just get her running and looking half decent, in a relatively short time, without throwing too much money at it.

I figure a few years down the road I'll see how things have held up and re-do specific problem areas more thoroughly.

Interesting that it's just an interference fit. You'd think with gasoline behind it would be fastened in a way that would prevent it from pulling out.


Regarding my other issue... the missing reserve tube... anyone know how tall (long) it should be?

Also making some progress on the tank.

Two coats of Casewell tank liner on the inside, and so far I've got three coats of Bondo Fiber on the outside.

Well, it's been four months. It's been a busy summer so far. I have made a little progress over those months... just haven't posted in a while I've stripped down the tank, de-rusted the inside, found a couple holes, patched them up and lined the tank. I'm getting a lot of heat for patching the holes...
