Charging systems are fairly universal so bits from anywhere should work, just the vibes on bikes can shake things to bits! Might be worth checking your rotor as they can lose magnetism over time which will of course affect the output of the Alternator. This will be made worse if anybody has tryed to...

From what I have read then the resistance is between 0.7 - 1.2 Ohms. As you say there is a difference in the wire size & number of turns (4 coils in the smaller wire & 2 in the larger wire). This doesn't make a massive difference to the resistance though. Another check worth doing ius continuity to ...

HELP - CB72/77 Early Fork Stanchion Needed - UK

Hi all, I'm building a semi racer look CB72 at present. I've just found that one of my for legs has seen a little bit of previous "action" which has damaged the hard chrome. The bigger worry is that the same stanchion has some pretty hefty corrosion just under the bottom yoke clamp. It's bad enough ...

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated. I've seen both NOVA & MPE.....not aware of Oily Tom (unless he is MPE)?? Both routes are fairly expensive on the basis they are "bolt on" conversions (375+vat for sprockets from NOVA & 240 from MPE with all hardware). It would appear that it would be po...

3 phase Alt Conversion

Hi All, new to the forum. Am putting together a '63 CB72 in a CYB/CR/Cafe racer style. I'm looking to simplify as much as possible & part of this is going for a self contained 3 phase reg/rec & binning the extra wiring for the switched in lighting arrangement used as standard. I've read a bit on her...

CB72/77 Primary Drive Bits Wanted - UK

Hi, as title suggests I'm after a primary drive sprocket & possibly a clutch basket for a CB72 to put together a home made duplex primary drive conversion. I am UK (sunny Birmingham...!) based so it would be most suitable if a user from the UK has these parts available. As the parts are to be used f...

Primary Drive - Home brewed duplex conversion??

Hi all, new to the forum (although I have been dipping in for a while for general info capture).... I'm in the process of putting a '63 CB72 back together after starting the project in the mid 1990s....... One item i'm not all that happy with is my primary drive chain. It seems okish but i've been c...
