Replacement for 67 CA78 old style battery

Here's what I've done to resolve the issue - until I can upgrade to Frank's mod kit that allows sealed battery & still has room for tool tray. 1. Raised tool tray holes up a little more than an inch, gotta keep them parallel and watch that corners are still within limits of the cover. 2. My cables w...

Replacement for 67 CA78 old style battery

Wow Frank thanks for that reply!!! I just checked it out on the Classic Honda Restoration site and it looks absolutely beautiful! I'll be looking into that if his design ever becomes available for purchase, would be nice if a similar mod could be done for the later frame Dreams as well (maybe they a...

Replacement for 67 CA78 old style battery

I guess I should've started this thread like this from the beginning, my apologies to the group. The battery cables were extended by previous owner so I can use battery with terminals reversed from original (pos on L, neg on R), works better this way. I was hoping to be able to use the tool tray but...

Replacement for '67 CA78 old style battery?

Here's an update on what I was able to locate on Ebay, looks like I've stumbled upon BOTH CA78 batteries; early frame and later one (both are acid type which is fine by me). I'm trying to wake up the '67 305 for an upcoming show, she's been well cared for except I must've gotten behind on keeping th...

'67 CA78 battery 12N-12A-4A-1 is dead, replace with sealed?

Sorry DJM, guess I'm trying to juggle too many projects at once and somehow lost track. I'll definitely look into the lithium type battery for our '65 CA78 (longer thin type). GOTTA keep that girl going, she was a gift from my father-in-law several years ago before he passed on so she'll always take...

'67 CA78 battery 12N-12A-4A-1 is dead, replace with sealed?

Thanks a bunch Danielzink, I've already tried searching ebay by measurements, actually am about to return one that I thought would fit but is slightly too long (I had a thought of trying to modify the rear support but quickly thought better of it). I'll keep searching maybe but will likely take your...

'67 CA78 battery 12N-12A-4A-1 is dead, replace with sealed?

Thanks DJM, No this isn't the longer thinner type (my '65 has that one, still holding it's own), battery I'm replacing measures basically 5.25"x 3.25" x 6.375". No wiggle room at all front to back or for width; lotsa room on top since I don't have a battery tray (I can rig up a strap). Appreciate th...
