I plan on doing something similar... the sealant on mine was breaking apart and was chalky as well. I think the silicone will hold up much better

Thanks for the info. I will do some other research. Got nothing but time in my basement during these winter months ahead... I'll post some pics when I am done. Do you have any general links you visit or is this a common procedure? Why type of glue is used to hold that bezel on?

Speedometer Restoration - How to remove bezel?

I have an extra speedometer from a Honda Dream CA160... I want to take this apart to clean and restore it. I have no idea how the chrome bezel is removed. Here is a picture of what I have:
