what is an acceptable range of voltage in on each and out to switch/battery
at idle and 4-5000+ rpm
im getting 14-15 idle and 18-20 to battery at speed
i know amps are not great and max from battery voltage ive seen at high speed
is 13.4

Switch may be bad, but sounds like you have a charging system issue! Has the rectifier been upgraded to a modern type? Have you checked voltage with the bike running? Disconnect, one by one, any wires coming from the battery positive while the ammeter is checking draw. You will quickly find which component is pulling the undesired current.
