Thank you everyone for the replies so far. After the tear-down I inspected all the components. I noticed a "tear" in the frame just above the lower motor mount. This "tear"may have been from from the PO's rough treatment or a design flaw.Assuming it was due to a design flaw, adding more torque is not a...

I must have not been clear G-Man.I do not want more power as the bike is severely limited in structure, as well as,design.I do want an equal to stock power with more controlled engine management systems.I thought I might have to use the CL/CB piston as well. Are the piston weight equivalent or will a...

For your consideration.

Upon receiving a 1962 CA-77 from my girlfriend as a gift, I got somewhat excited about increasing the power of the engine. After disassembling the bike (as it was in poor condition), I came to the realization just how bad an idea that was. Before the purists among the readers think...right on, I am no...

Primer

Did Honda use primer on some of their bikes in the 1960's?My 1962 CA77 has not had any primer so far(and yes,it has the original factory paint). I have seen parts on fleabay in primer that the seller claims to be NOS.Did Honda primer replacement parts way back when? Thanks Greener.

Just for argument's sake, let's say I was able to acquire a set of the early four ring cl pistons that raised the the compression to 9.5:1,what combustion chamber volume would I need to reduce the compression to 9.1:1?What thickness gasket would accomplish this?Greener
