I will be back working on the bike in a few days and try the suggestions you guys have mentioned. By flossing the carbs with a copper wire, I am assuming you mean to remove the jets, air screws and so forth and running copper wire through the openings to clean the side walls. I did air blast them ou...

I checked compression today, 150's both sides, throttle open, no choke, air filters removed. Went through Ed's tune up instructions step by step, left side was warm but not as hot as right. Still died when right side plug boot removed. So some progress but not enough yet. Someone suggested a bad con...

I rebuilt the petcock and I am running clear fuel line and can see fuel flowing. That is a very good point about the plug... Is it possible the side is firing at higher rpm's? One thing I did have to do to the points plate was grind the rotational adjustment holes so that I could turn the plate far ...

Left side not firing... I'm out of ideas...

I am hoping you guys will have a bit of advice for me: Left side not firing. Exhaust: cold/cool compared to the right side I can pull the left spark plug boot off and bike still runs, no change in engine sound. Pulling the right side kills the engine, thus running on only the right side. Points are ...

Cam Chain timing questing

When you set the cam chain with the camshaft set at the punch mark, that looks like a 0 stamped into it with the pointers lined up to T on the stator. Is that the location when you set the valves or is it a rotation past that on the stator markings? In other words in the camshaft punch mark and the ...

I would agree that both coils would go at the same time. The odd thing is I get a different volt reading when I measure at the spark boot end, both are low in the 4 to 4.5 volt range. So would that be a bad wire running from the coil to the plug? I had thought about clipping the plug wires but the o...
