I just checked the connections and juice is getting to the starter but the connection is bad.... did the old car trick by tapping the starter....it spun for a second.... i just need to go through it.... still trying to find the squeak though

I replaced the rollers and springs and put a new starter in..... I just get a click when I push the start button, however when I tried to kick start i hit the button and it spun? I am really confused plus after a few kicks a loud squeak happens before the bank stops... any advice would be great thanks

I have been working on a 66 superhawk and after repeatedly starting the bike the starter doesn't seem to engage but spins... I pulled the covers of and don't really see anything broken...
