Front end alignment

My CL 72 restoration bike has a slight alignment problem. The wheel points slightly left compared to the handle bars and triple tree. I can't figure out what is wrong. I have jacked everything up and taken off the front wheel and it looks like the left shock is angled down (or the right shock is ang...

Re: Taking apart rear shocks

It is pretty easy. I did my CL 72 shocks for painting and chroming.
I did it with the shocks off the bike. It is best with a helper but
can be done (grunt) with one person.
With the shocks in the normal upright position, set the bottom end on the end of a bench. Now grab the painted ...

Re: Need Engine Advice

Wow! I finally found a place where people actually know something!

You may have helped me with another problem. Seems I do have a bit of an oil problem. It hangs around the flanges that hold in the exhaust pipes. The engine does not smoke and has new rings so I do believe it is a valve gu...

Air Vents plugged

The air vents on the rear of the head on my CL 72 are plugged up. Any advice on how to open these up. Where do they
end up? Crank case or intake ports?
Might this be a clue to why it backfires when decellerating?

The plastic tubes went to the air cleaners but the new ones air c...

Dishing

I recently respoked my 1995 CL72 with stainless steel spokes and nipples. Beautiful! I forgot to measure if there was any dishing on the original build. Anyone know if dishing is required on the
rear wheel. I suspect not but I am more familiar with bicycles where it is important.

Mike

Need Engine Advice

I have a 1965 CL 72 and it's on the road and about 95% restored. I had a new one in 1965 so it is nice having one again. But I have a few details to resolve:
1. There are two nipples that are screwed into the back on the Head assembly. These had hoses that were connected to the right air cleane...
