Thanks, Davo! I will do that. I have the couple keys anyway from the other two bikes. I was going to just replace the ignition switch but someone went to town inside/behind the headlight soldering everything together with heatshrink and all - probably when they integrated a set of turn signals. I ha...

Ignition switch key question

I just got a '67 CA77 recently and it has no key to it. The ignition switch has "1645" on it. There is no "T" or other letter in front of it and there is no room for one either (it is clearly stamped/engraved as 1645 only). I looked at the back of the switch and see that it looks just like the other...

Thank you both for the excellent advice – you’ve both given me a wealth of information on performing this procedure and I can tell that there is a lot of experience behind it. Hopefully I won’t gain any more wisdom the hard way, at least in the short term :). I have hope for fun without a full break...

Ah yes - I have gained some wisdom and experience here :). Thanks for all the words... I feel a bit better about it now. I like the 'glass half full' comment, G-man, that at least I know I am getting oil to the top end. Is it so that I can change out the oil seals w/o disassembling the engine?? If t...

5 minutes of bliss...

I just finished rebuilding the transmission on my '64 CA77 (shift forks, shift drum, 2nd gear – all replaced). I put the engine back on and everything else. Now for a short maiden voyage. Wonderful – it drives like a… Dream. Shifts perfectly. Back into the driveway, check it all over. Looks good. No...

Thanks for the clarification. I did happen to know the relative position of the Rotor Cap -> Washer -> Oil Filter Shaft Stopper Pin as I had left that one washer on the Oil Filter Shaft (with pin in) with the shaft through the Oil Filter. Speaking of the pin engaging the cover, I had the experience ...

Thank you (again!), Davo. I already have the Left Cover on but it has been bugging me. I saw that thread on the chewed up Oil Filter end and couldn't tell if a washer was supposed to be there or not (there was one in that thread). I just knew mine didn't have one. I didn't want to be thinking about ...
