Yep - Mine last a couple of years. I'll be installing a regulator soon. I hope that helps! Happy riding!

Re: 16 volts with silenium rectifier - too much?Yep, I see the graph. Strange my battery has actually lasted as long as it has! I'm often at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm's - some long trips. I can't imagine the battery taking that sort of beating! Wow. Looks like I'm going to look how to install a regulator / rectifier - I'm planning on keep the bike!! Tha...
Re: 16 volts with silenium rectifier - too much?Thank Tim for the Shop Manual! I only had a Clymer manual. :-)

Re: 16 volts with silenium rectifier - too much? Thanks guys! I didn't mention that the bike was a 1966 Superhawk, with just the silenium rectifier. My voltage "before" these problems was always in the ballpark, and with an LED taillight I could use the electric start most of the time, and the voltage output to the battery would be a high of 14v. ...
16 volts with silenium rectifier - too much?Hello all, I had to change my battery, I replaced it with another gel battery, and tested the voltage after installation. With the lights off, I get a full 14 volts. With the lights on and accelerating the motor, the voltage at the battery goes as high as 16 volts! I never had that before. And with ...
Re: Crankcase clacking when hot - NOT kickstartHi Tim, I'd already thought of that, but that's not it (I was HOPING it was). Mine is a 1966 with the tensioner, and I pulled the cover and ran the bike for just a tiny bit, and there is no noise there, nor does it flop very much. At idle it DID make the noise, but coming from somewhere inside. The ...
Re: Crankcase clacking when hot - NOT kickstartThanks Deuce, I'm almost certain it isn't piston slap, nor rod / wrist pin. When I had the head off I checked things out (not with a calipers, but ...) and everything looks very good. I only took the head off because the head gasket (original) had blown. Cylinders still had hone marks! (I did hone i...
