SOLVED ! Thanks for your help ! Looks like the previous owner added a 1/4" ( ? ) bearing in first…. then the clutch rod. had a mechanic remove the small ball bearing with a long thin magnet. then put the clutch rod back pointy end in first, then the 5/16" ball in the threaded clutch adjuster, popped...

Hi, I had problems shifting so I searched the forum, it lead to me open up the right side case cover and look for the 5/16 ball. No surprise , it was gone, the PO had left the kickstarter unwound as well. I got a 5/16 ball bearing and popped it in. but now the case won't fit! seems like there is not...

Thanks LM!, the problem was the kickstarter needed to be rewound properly. Here is a pretty good description by 305 member jleewebb I found 1. I charged the battery over night . Everything is fine now. holds a charge at around 12.5 volts
I guess I won't let the battery get that low again. thanks for your help.

Hi, I have a 67 cb77. I I just changed the front tire and started the bike turned the lights and a minute later it died. Could have died because it idles a bit rough too. I kick start the motor. it starts and runs easily, but the kick start points straight down instead of returning. there is a winding sound until I manually pull the kick start back. it is hard to get into first gear but not impossible. all other gears shift fine.
