Most of these engines had the oil go up the feft and right front shafts to oil the total top end and that oil returned to the bottom by running down the center of all the top end parts. both sides of engine have sump at base of cylinder head front outer bolts for oil to drain to trans from top of engine. Mine ,I have have discovered during engine rebuild, have been filled in and machined with aluminum. Ever seen this? Are these sumps critical. Should I remove this material?
