Two problems seem to plague kickstarter shafts on all of these 250-305 engines. The first is the little '14mm' bush which fits between the low gear and the sleeve gear. The tiny 0.75mm flange on this serves to maintain axial clearance in the gearbox but the little flange only makes line contact with...

After a lot of searching, tweaking and making / modifying a couple of parts, I finally managed to complete this 5-speed gearbox. I have dismantled Dream shocks but have not restored any up to now. I belive theat the dampers are pretty similar to many others of the era. The Dream shocks are one-way damped compared with say, a CL72 which has two-way damping. All of them work by forcing oil through a drilled plate or a stack of ...
