You'll be Ok for just over one winter season, even with 10% Ethanol. Top the tank to full so there is little to no oxygen in the tank and just run a tank through it in the spring and you'll be good. Anything longer than one season will require a different plan of attack.

I do this too, works very well. Four ratchet straps and your completely off the ground in little time and safely suspended.

A traditional grease gun will work fine, it just does not lock on like an automotive type fitting and will require you to hold pressure. I had to have this repair done many years ago and brazing worked (and continues to work) well. Clearly this is a stress failure and the rather large amount of bronze used has likely spread the stress and reduced the strain on the sheet metal. I agree that brazing does tend to work better on thinner...

Mig welding is going to be the only worthwhile repair option for your situation. I suppose Brazing may work OK as well.
