Battery not charging. Help.

I have a 67' Honda Dream 305, and have had the mechanical completely ran through, Tank lined, Rebuilt carb, new Fuel lines, plugs/wires, NOS Battery. The bike fires up first time via the kick start or the auto start (push button). I am keeping the new battery on a Battery Tender when it is parked. The bike runs great, when the NEW battery is completely charged. After about 10-15 of riding, it will not keep idle, and is more difficult to start. Could something be draining the battery, which is then pulling on the motor? Could the Magneto possibly be faulty, and if so, could this drain the battery. Is there anyone who can help point me a direction, or suggest some tests to get the electrical in perfect order?

As a side note, the push button for the auto start is staying in, and I think I need a new stronger spring to keep it pushed out, Originally I though this might be my problem, where there might have been arcing which was draining it…? Thoughts? Does anyone know where I can find the spring for the push button?

My 1969 dream 305 was doing the same thing, running fine till the battery voltage got low and then it would not idle and then just quit running. I checked the voltage at the battery while running at 3000 rpm and the voltage was just at 12.5 volts. It should be over 13.5 volts to keep the battery topped off. I first bought the small replacement rectifier and I wired the pink wire from the headlight switch together with the yellow. In our state we have to have the headlight on at all time while riding. This was a big improvement over the old rectifier but it would still boil the battery after long rides at speed. Just installed the Kohler lawn mower rec./reg. that replaces the rectifier. It works great and it's cheap.

OK, so the:

Red/white wire to charge the battery goes to the center post of the Kohler regulator,
Regualtor case is grounded, via either mechanical connection directly to the frame or a ground wire,
I now have a yellow and a brown wire which are 1/3 of the stator (AC) from the alternator.

Where is the pink wire (physically on the bike) and where should it and the yellow be spliced to get 100% stator all the time into the new Kohler voltage regulator? Thanks.
