No vacuum, but I'm sure I could rig one. Again, until you mentioned it I had no idea they made them that small! That's awesome! Gotta tell the wife about that for my birthday...;)

It's air requirement is 7-20 cfm air @ 80 psi, but my HF 21-gallon only pushes 5.8 CFM @ 40 PSI, 4.7 CFM @ 90 PSI...don't know if that would be enough -

I hope you're ok. Stitches? After I dropped my engine and had to get my face stitched up, we briefly discussed home workshop engine cranes to avoid this. We need to get busy with a design that we can both use. Something that might attach to the floor and/or the wall that doesn't take up much room when not in use. Hope you're better soon.

All ok and healing up quickly, thank goodness. My leg got caught by the shifter leve shaft as ithe engine went down.

I've had a few hours rest (ordered by my wife) and have been out to tidy up the workshop, so all good.

Yes - I've been thinking about the hoist. I need two as I have two separate place where I work on engines.

The accident happened when I was putting the engine back on the bench after testing this 'test stand' that I was making. This is so that I can run this engine a little before we put it in the frame. Later, it will be adapted for Honda engines.

Glad you're ok and that you listened to Mrs. G's orders to relax for awhile before heading back to the shop. The engine stand looks good. How about this idea for a start? It could be mounted to a sturdy workbench.

My problem is that my engine build area is long and narrow with the bench at the end. I really need some sort of overhead rail so that I can pull things outside to put on a trolley.

Sounds as if some sort of I beam with a trolley and a simple chain hoist would work for you. How high is your ceiling and what is it made of? If you have the ceiling height, you could get quite creative and even be able to extend the beam outside and then retract it back into the shop with two trolleys mounted to the ceiling.

Hey G, I hope the leg is OK...I had something similar happen to me last year when a head tottered off the bench and hit *my head...! Luckily I was coming up as it was going down, so the distance wasn't all that great, but damn that stuff hurts...A Guinness every 30 mins for at least an hour until your symptoms subside is what I would prescribe...
