I'm just up the road in Indy and I finally resolved myself to rebuild my 1963 CB77 to the same condition that you have planned for yours. I'm sure we'll run into many of the same problems and perhaps at the same time. I've already found a wealth of information on this site. Although I originally signed up for the forum years ago, I've only recently rediscovered all of the great discussions on here.

I should plan a trip to Western Hills Honda myself. Let me know if you see any other CB/CL/CA-77/72s for sale. I'd like to have a parts bike and perhaps we can strike a bargain somewhere.

If you give me an idea what parts you are seeking- I will ask specifically if they have them at Western Hills. Send me a wish list. They have a web site.....westernhillshondayamaha.com Seems they have bought other dealers' close-out parts inventories through their nearly 50 years existence. They need parts numbers in order to track things down. I may be going out that way this week, actually.....so shoot me that list soon!

CL's have no starter so that won't be an option for you, however I hear CB starters are very rebuildable usually only a couple things go wrong with them. Do a search in this forum and you will find many posts on starter issues and how they were fixed. Good luck!

I like that idea MUCH better than replacing. I would like to keep this bike as close to its original package as is possible. Glad to hear it is a probably a relatively simple fix. I will do some digging for starter troubleshooting. REGARDS, CJN (Chris)
