CB/CL carb O rings supplier

Post by Kaiser Karl » Sun Jul 15, 2018 10:40 am

Dear all those with O ring problems on CL or CB77's
I contacted David Silver to order two sets and in the process sending photos of my carb and insulator with a digital micromoter set showing the sizes; the sizes were different to the rings they were selling for the '77. I offered two sets from a compsny in Scotland; guess what, perfect! The bike is running as it should and the carbs actually respond to adjustments! The needle is dropped to the second from last notch and the plugs no longer soot up
.
The company is Acorn Industrial Services Ltd, the insulator O ring is EM028X2.5N70 (28 X 2.5 N70) and the carb is EM029X2.5N70 (29 X 2.5 N70).

I also had two duff NGK plugs from a batch of ten that I bought for the CB77 and CB92 so nothng's guaranteed even when new!
As a PS I fitted Bosch W4CC to my '75 CB500T to address the starting issue and it actually starts and revs out!

I have learned the hard way to never assume just because a part is new doesn't mean it is OK. particularly spark plugs.

Hi Randy
I agree. I spent ages check coils resistance, points, timing, fuel etc! I believe that NGK are now made in the US, is this correct?y CB77 is a US model imported to the UK which I've owned for 27 years. The supplier I've listed is a bearing supplier. I hope it's of use to some. As we say, keep her between the hedges!!!!

Good morning G man from Derby!
I was going to suggest that it would be of benefit to owners if the normal suppliers of parts looked I to getting such parts but they could possibly double or treble the price???
Have you fitted the O rings to your bike and had any issues with new plugs being duff?

How about your catapult (slingshot) ammunition? I've never seen steel balls sold for the purpose before.

I personally use large rocks as a long past relative, a Roman, left me his wheeled siege catapult not to mention the bearings would score the barrel of my musket!!
Perhaps with the firm being in Scotland it's ammo for the Celtic V Rangers matches??
Must go as I'm summoned to the latest siege of Londinium!
Weird!
