clutch will not disengage

Post by morleyj » Fri Jun 01, 2018 4:47 pm

Hello folks. I am helping a friend make his ca77 roadworthy. Got the engine running and the carb dialed in. Right now I am stuck on the clutch not disengaging. The cable seems fine and is working the release mechanism but I can't get the clutch to disengage at all. I haven't done any barn restos that were this old and I am hoping that I won't have to pull the cover and manually clean the clutch. Any pointers from the pros out there?

Sorry Morley, pull the cover and clean the clutch plates. They stick.

My Ca 77 does the same thing get the motor running and warmed up then push it in neutral to about 2 mph then shift into first gear while keeping the clutch lever pulled in then shift to second and lug it down then pour the coals to it a few times, it should free up if not repeat. It will do this every time it sets awhile. I rode mine last season a hunderd miles one day and it has been fine since Pat
