You may not need to fit a spike-strip, I had many spikes break off on mine but I managed to punch new ones between the broken ones, so it was just like new!!

Nice job! A friend in the VJMC actually made a really nice punch tool that could make strip with the tangs the right way around compared with the commercially available stuff.
Will get the seat cleaned up and see what we can do. Graham

Isn't strange that so many parts turn up when you've stopped looking. A few parts turned up on eBay for early bikes and while I am beyond using them for this project, they will come in handy for my next 'pair' of projects. The first will be my 1961 CYB 72 and later on there will be a 1962 CB72. Quite a lot of my CYB parts are for the 1961 frame so I was lucky to do a deal with e3Steve to swap some '64 crankcases for his 1961 frame. (he has acquired a '74 frame). This nice set of steering damper parts turned up along with an early lower triple clamp. On the lower triple clamp was the Holy Grail of the early lock cover without the little spring-loaded door. I have already modified a later one so I will get both re-chromed. I managed to pick up an early hub and brake-plate from the same seller. A dunk in my ultrasonic cleaner had it looking pretty nice. This is the type which takes the early open-style speedo drive. I just happen to have a spare to go with this hub so that was a pretty nice find. G
