Swapping a 180 crank for a 360 crank

Post by denisj » Fri Oct 06, 2017 10:10 pm

Hi Guys!

I am putting a CL77 custom engine together and want to know if anyone has swapped the crank for the Dream 360 unit

I am looking at the parts books and can not determine if one crank snout (left side) is longer than the other.

I am under the assumption they must be different because of the electric start.

Is the Dream crankshaft longer than the CL crank?

Your help is greatly appreciated!!

I think the only other difference is, the hole in the crank that oils the stater clutch, are you going to do away the electric start?

Thanks for the detail - Will that need to be blocked up?
There is no electric start provisions on the engine case for the CL

Hello,
I've done 2 of them. If you are not using the starter drive, you have to plug the oil hole on alternator side of the crank. I used an aluminum welding rod. I drove it in and filed it flush.
Make sure your cams are indexed correctly. Both of the engines I did were twingled with both cylinders firing on the same stroke. Search Twingle and poor boy on the forum. There is some discussion posted there.
