Richard

I'm not sure that genuine US bikes had them at all. (someone will chime in)

I 'think' the riveted ones gave out to glued-on ones around 1962. Not sure when they stopped putting them on but my '63 scrambler has one and my 1964 CB77 doesn't.

Send some pics of your '61 project. It's a long haul getting all the right bits. What are your numbers?

Thanks LM.

Did the CBs have them in the US?

Not a totally definitive answer, but the only one that I have seen was on a CS72. Regards, Chase

Ray Weissbrot (the man with the bike entered in the 1961 250cc TT race) sent me a quick note.

"Hi Graham, the metal ID plate on the swinging arm was changed after 1963 , after that they were the stick on type , it says two wheeled road vehicle. Have a good trip cheers Ray."
