What a concept - A Girl Bringing Back Her 1966 Super Hawk
Jon told me the frame is bent, that right front wheel is pushed way back. He's pretty sure it's totalled. Very sad, it was a beautiful car. He was bringing it along in the same time frame I was resurrecting my SuperHawk. 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk

Vince Lupo got me all inspired day before yesterday with a post he made on Facebook. I've talked about it over on the "electrical" thread. I'd like to upgrade the charging system on the Old Girl so I can trust her/ride her more. Vince mentioned that the Mike's 99-101 stator for the CB350/360 looked very similar to the 99-102 (which he has), and he was curious if it would work in the CB77. The 99-102 isn't available, and Mike's doesn't restore the CB77 stator (boo). So I asked on that thread, and basically got nowhere - so far. I will not spend $224 for an experiment unless I'm assured of a positive outcome!
I rode the Red Hawk (NT650) earlier in the week, and that poor thing needs help. It is a California model, with all of the smog plumbing and associated hoo-rahs, and it carburates very poorly at partial throttle and off idle. Stumbling, hesitating, cold natured, and back firing. It just took the joy out of riding it. I really have to address that - pull that smog stuff off of it and rebuild/clean those carburetors. The Old Girl runs well, I just don't trust her charging (!) system. Oh, there is a clunking noise coming from the front wheel (I think, it's hard to pin point), and I do need to get to the bottom of that, too. I want to ride! I just need the time to give both bikes the TLC they need and deserve. 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk

It might be an idea to give Rick's Motorsport Electrics a call and talk with them about your (and I'm sure many others) situation. Maybe they have a solution -- I know that they did offer a stator rewinding service, but not sure if that would include CB77 stators. There must be a tech there who could help out!
