darboots - 1961 CA77 from boxesIt lives.....!!Managed to start the bike, but... The revs instantly hit what sounds like 3000 RPM plus. Choke on (up) does slow it down somewhat (bogging), but runs happily off of the choke with no reduction in the revs.
Any ideas from the forum, please? 1961 Honda CA77 Dream Touring

Re: It lives.....!!A vacuum leak will cause it to rev as you mentioned. When I started my Dream for the first time in 20 years it did the same thing. I checked a few things and finally figured out that the adjustment in the cable (just down from the steering head) was adjusted out to far and was pulling up the slide. Loosened the adjustment and the idle dropped right down. Does this look OK? Does it look like the carb slide is bottomed? Should it be lower?
Or, does it look like the cable is an incorrect type? The cable only has an adjuster at the throttle end, and it's fully slackened (this is not a 'hinge' type throttle, it's the early twist grip type).

It isn't bottomed.
