Shortly after taking the above photo I noticed this:
The wheel was crooked. I disassembled the front end and put everything back together and noticed this:
The fork seems to be bent. It did line up with the top triple once I rotated it a bit, but bent nonetheless.
So what to do?
Teazer kindly pointed me in the direction of GT550 forks and triples.
Difference in length (this should actually be only about 3-3.5" as the CB77 fork was not at full extension)
Disassembled:
Cleaned out and re-assembled with new seals. Race-tech springs should be arriving today.
You can also see the two axles. I picked up axles from both a '72 and a '73 GT550 with spacers so that I can mix and match to make everything work.
For the triple tree, I had the CB77 stem pressed and welded into the GT550 lower and the GT550 upper bored slightly to fit. I also had the top and bottom of the triple ground flat to give me more clearance. I took the upper bearing preloader and had it cut in half, giving me a top nut and a cup/washer to go between the upper bearing and the upper triple.

I went to assemble the tree (after hitting it with rust reformer paint) and realized this:
Didn't take into account that the neck in the stem. No worries, my machinist is talented and likes to live dangerously:
So that's where we're at.
This/tomorrow afternoon I'll get the front end together and await the tarozzi fork brace from fastfromthepast.
The duplex primary chain kit should be leaving England by the end of the week inshallah.
Oh and I also should be receiving some custom length 4LS brake cables from motionpro this week as well.
