UK CB77 restoration, here we go...

Hello,

Having been impressed with those who have presented their restorations on this forum, I will join this band and see where it takes us.

I have just bought my first cb77, a UK bike registered in 1966. Hopefully I will be able to attach a picture of it as purchased. (Struggling with the technology here : file too big..?)

There a number of major parts missing (seat, exhaust, forks), but the engine and frame numbers are within 10 digits, there is a tax disc from 1971, and a registration plate. No documents though.

I restore Citroen DS's for a living, so am pretty handy with spanners and the like, but the wealth of information that is here will certainly make my learning curve easier.

Onward and upward..?

We have Mr G-man on this forum that has turned out some amazing restorations...You need to ask him for advice. Good luck with restoration!

Welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. Do you plan on collecting the missing bits first or will you be jumping right in and replacing them as you progress?

Thanks for the welcome.

The philosophy that I will be taking with this project is similar to that of G-man in that it is a journey to be enjoyed rather than rushing to attain an end goal. With this in mind I have set myself a timescale of three years which will bring me up to a significant milestone.

So whilst I will be looking for parts, I will not be able to resist delving into the innards of the engine, I just need to sort out the workshop space to get this one in....(who said too many projects?)

It's amazing how much space you need when its all in bits. Cars are much worse, mind you.

Sorry to start off with a negative, your picture just came through and I'm afraid the front wheel isn't the right one for a CB77, at least the brake plate isn't, can't really see the hub.

On a more positive note though, someone else I know of has just started a similar project here in the UK. He has located all the major stuff he needs (including both wheels) pretty quickly.
