Starter Clutch Help!
Starter Clutch Help!Hey guys,
I requested help in my build thread, but I figure this is a better place to put this... The time has come for me to rebuild my starter clutch. It was making awful noises, and now has resorted to allowing the starter motor to just spin freely. Can someone walk me through the process of getting to the replaceable starter clutch components? I heard it was behind the rotor, so it's fine that that is coming out. Just want to know how far back to go, what tools to use, etc. Thanks in advance! Re: Starter Clutch Help! There's really very little to it. Even I can do it. Just remove the rotor and everything is mounted in the back of it. No further disassembly. Springs, caps and rollers. They just pop in. You don't really need tools - maybe needle nose pliers. It'll take longer to clean up the area than to replace the parts. Do you have a rebuilding kit?
Yes the starter clutch is behind the rotor. Make sure the Philips screws are tight, and the rollers, pins and springs are clean and move freely.
