Motor TypeMotor TypeI have seen a few posts here and there about a type 1 or type 2 motor. How does one figure this out and what are the differences, if any. I did a search but didn't turn up much.

You are real close. The type 1 is a 180 degree crank, found on the CB's and CL's. Some of the earlier CB's were type 2 with the 360 degree crank. I believe all the C_ models with single carb have 360 degree cranks. Forty some years ago we were looking for more torque on a CB type 2 set up for moto cross (scrambles) in Japan. If I remember right we ground off one spline on the cam and put it together 180 degrees out. This put both cylinders on the same cycle which made it like a thumper, it was great on courses with short straights. cliff c.
