We need to pour oil (unspecified) on these troubled waters.

As for me I will make my own decision on what I use and keep it to myself...... :-)

I agree G.
One would think I demand others do as I do.
In most cases I consider the source. ................lm

my two cents worth, I agree with G-Man!

Obviously some of us are more passionate and demanding of our preferances- as for me, my choice works and I've had no oiling issues.

Ride on and enjoy our wonderful lil Hondas!

Interesting that you should say that LM. Back in the 1930's a couple of characters were trekking across Africa in an Austin 7 and had the misfortune to hit a rock and lose all their engine oil. Not having a handy Walmart nearby and no supply of oil on board they were stuck. Necessity being the mother of invention however, they made up a very thick mix of soap and water, filled the crudely-repaired sump with that and drove on their way. Whether or not the soapy mixture contained zinc additives, stability enhancers and so on was not actually mentioned in the report...
but it was..... "High Detergent" water! ;-)

QUESTION: Has anyone ever suffered oil related engine problems? If so,what oil were you using?

Mike

Judging by the engines I have stripped, quite a number of them have suffered lubrication problems. Whether that is because of the oil, blocked filter, lack of oil changes or something else is a difficult question......

Apart from the fact we all weigh a little more than we did as young men, we probably take more pride in our restored bikes now so they are never going to be pushed to the same extremes of performance that they were in the '60s.

Dunno about that but I'll bet they were glad to have a supply of 'running' water.
