!968 CL77 Info???

Post by renoman » Fri Jul 01, 2016 11:58 am

Hello folks, I inherited a few older Hondas from my uncle who passed away. I have a 1968 CL77 that I'm going to sell but really need some info from those who know them. My uncle restored motorcycle professionally for 50 years. He claimed that the 1968 CL77 was a bike that was put together with all the left over parts on the shelf. Because the CL350 was on the showroom floor at the same time. The CL he hunted down came from a friend who owned the Honda dealership at the time. Anyways, this bike had some extra chrome parts on it that I only saw on a picture at a motorcycle show in Chicago. It has chrome fenders, the headlight is chrome and the side stand is chrome. It also has a seat that has a silver bead around the seat and a seamed gas tank. He claimed this is how the bike was sold on the showroom floor. Can anyone verify this? It's been totally restored and will go for sale on ebay. Thanks for your time........Reno

How about posting the frame number. I don't have the info with me at the moment, but chrome fenders appeared after a certain frame number. Silver tinsel welt appeared on late bikes. I've had those seats on all of my original paint Candy Scramblers. The chrome headlight and sidecovers were most likely done By the owner or at the dealer. Factory bikes they would have been painted.

Thanks for your response Tom, but it does not have chrome side covers, it has a chrome side stand. The tank and side covers are silver with a black frame. Would the seamed gas tank been on the 1968?

I thought this all sounded familiar. It looks like RustyWrench helped you out back in 2013.

Back then Jensen asked for frame and engine numbers, even pics, no response with info asked for. I asked for frame number and not provided. We share information on the forum as a resource for all and to help others learn and it helps others when you provide the info asked for.
