Remove the valve tappet on the right exhaust to see the end on the valve stem.
If it has a cup/dish look it will not adjust to your feeler.
Also check the end on the tappet for flat rather than domed end.
Take a look and get back. ..................lm

Set the rotor at T mark, look for the loose side, both valves were able to move with my fingers but using the feelers I could barely get the.004 under the tip. Then rotate 360 degrees until other side valves are loose and checked them to the same results. Figured that means they're tight and right. I did check them cold though. I'm not sure about flattening, I didn't do that procedure but what should I look for?

Maybe I'm overlooking something super simple with my valve clearances?

If you have a dish in the valve stem, you can 'calibrate' the rotation of the screw to the clearance. i.e. x degress of turn = y thousandths of an inch clearance.

Once you know the angle it's a breeze....

Here are two pictures. This is from my right exhaust valve, I cannot tell if there's any dishing on the actual stem although it doesn't look like it.

The actual tappet is very flat comparably to what I think it's "supposed" to be.

I rode the bike probably 50 miles today and it works great, only at idle and lower rpm does it make the loud clicking/tapping sound. I'm almost getting used to it now.

That picture was way too big, I'll resize this one.

There is your noise.
This part as you show it should have a DOME rather than a FLAT end.
The valve stem looks good. ....................lm

Thanks for the help, Ed.

Ebay doesn't have any tappets new or reproduced that I can find, they're all used and flat looking as well.

Any sources for these that you know of?
