When that bushing wore down..........lots of things were not aligned. Your motor looks to have been abused.........and abused again. Check the internal cogs on the gears. How much sludge was in the oil-slinger? Good time to clean the crankshaft oil journals. Sometimes some air-pressure will do the job.

I took apart all the parts of the transmission and know how the kickstart prawl and spring ended up in the oil filter. The bushing (part number 28258-259-010) was critically damaged. There is also a little damage to the spindle (part number 28250-259-000), based on the picture below is the spindle still usable? I did not find the pin (part number 28256-250-000) that goes under the kickstart prawl, so I'll be on the look out for that.It also looks like I'll need to replace the sprocket.
Based on the pictures below does it look like I need to replace the dogs? Still moving forward on this project!

The shaft is good the cap is destroyed. ...................lm
