Hmm, I think I said "should" and didn't specify country. I have a set PW22's round bowl non-powerjet, sure seems to me the only likely candidate these could have come from would have been a '62 CL72. I didn't have the bike, only an early type1 CL head to which these were attached. Interesting the early shop manual shows PW22 powerjet carbs, you can see the hose hooked the the jet also a CB type petcock and band type clamps for the air cleaner rubbers. Most likely a proto-type model. Have had conversations with a couple people interested in my carbs. One fellow had a one bad round bowl on his '62 and was looking for a replacement.
Will be interesting to see the pic's.

You will find a identifier number on the front mount top.
CL72 may be there if not the carb could be for a 160?
Read your statement and I did mention country.
(And carbs themselves, should be round bowl type.) YOU>
A CL250?
I'll stand by "No CL72 shipped to the US had round bowl carbs."
The CL72 Shop Manual has PICS of engine parts never on the engines/bikes shipped to the US.
That said I bought many years ago a carb which has a totally different machined front and is round bowl and has CL72 but came in a box.
It is a left side carb and may be a replacement after production but did not Come On a A Engine to the US market.
I learned many years back Not To Pay a Lot Of Attention To The Drawing in the parts manuals.
Ever see a single carb head on a CB72/ CB77/ CP77 PARTS BOOK PAGE?. (issue Sept.20, 1965)..................lm

I know of the number you are referring to.
These carbs are not marked, they are not one, but a pair, right and left. Were mounted to an early CL72 type 1 head and used. Pictures to follow.
I'll agree on the parts book "drawings". I'll also agree on the shop manual pictures.
With this pair of carbs in my hands I'll keep an open mind.

I have the same L/S carb (flat right and left angles at the front not smooth round like the other carbs of that era.
Mine is stamped CL72.
Also take a look in your shop manual at pages 118' 119, and 120.
Also page 38 for a good laugh.
May we see a pic of the frame number?
Any chance you have a CL250???
Did you notice the black tube at the top rear which was installed on the CB72 power jet carbs?. .................lm
