I think this was posted in the wrong thread.

Mine is a 65. and it does have the high beam indicator as shown in the pics.
BTW the frame/engine number is

CB77 1012004
CB77E 1012048.

any info on that?

I must be blind....I do not see the high beam indicator...should be between the 12 and the 120 inside the tach/speedo.....

on the 65's I believe the high beam indicator you're talking about is ahead of the tach/speedometer, on the right side. It's the little light on top of the headlight casing there. on the left side is the headlight swtich. Highbeam/lowbeam I believe are on the left handle grip. I'm not sure though, as this IS my first bike... let alone first 305, and the battery is toast on it, so I haven't had a chance to run any of this and test it out... Just theories based on what I personally think would be a logical assembly.

I am pretty sure that is your neutral indicator light.

This speedo is for the early issue 1962 bike and doesn't have a high beam indicter so isn't correct for a 1965 bike. It did come with a neutral light in the bucket and on this bike it was red. .................lm

Well, it's sort of a mixed blessing that a lot of the stuff on this bike isn't original. It will make it much easier for me to replace parts of the bike, knowing that it isn't 100% original to begin with, so I won't feel remorse at least. But at the same time, kind of a shame that more of it isn't original for classics sake.

I suppose this bike could also have a lot more miles on it if this isn't the original speedometer.

where can i look up those engine/frame numbers for additional info about the bike?

well, that is supposing it is actually a '65. considering the previous owner was wrong about a lot of information at this point, i guess i'll have to look up those numbers to know for sure.
