Honda CA77 Petcock

Post by gearhead3275 » Sat Oct 24, 2015 4:50 pm

Need some advice on just buying the replacement parts for my original Honda Petcock or buying a new aftermarket type. The one's I have seen on EBAY have a different configuration than the original Honda. Looks like the replacement parts kit is very close in price to the after market new petcock...

I bought a rebuild kit for mine off a guy on Ebay (he no longer sells them for the CA77) and it works fine. Just a little "stiff" when you turn it, but otherwise no problems. I would suppose the inside of your petcock would determine if you should replace it. Of course that is up to you. I never used a replacement petcock though so I have no comments on those.

The original Petcock had some corrosion on it, but that cleaned off. Think the previous owner of the tank removed a lot of the parts. I looked at the picture of the rebuild kit an my petcock appeared to be missing several parts, which would explain the leaking issues. Still not to sure what direction to go new or rebuild.

I went with rebuilding the original petcock. Purchased a rebuild kit and it should land at the house this weekend...

Hope you got a good kit! The first one I bought, the rubber swelled up from the fuel and you couldn't turn it on/off.
