To Camshaft or Not to Camshaft....
I wouldn't mind a bit more bark up top. I race cars for a living so a peaky cam is what I LIVE FOR! Contemplating doing something crazy like building up a 350cc cammed 5-speed engine for the Superhawk-- just for fun. Basically just live out all the crazy things Bob Guynes told me about in the years I used to hang in his garage.
-Matt In that case, there are options:
64mm pistons reworked head lightened rockers light crank Duplex primary drive 5 speed Highest compression you can get away with Highest lift Megacycle cam that they offer. Heavy duty cam chain Decent cam chain tensioner arrangement U 4.4 race gas (drain carbs and tank after each ride) Crank mounted electronic ignition or self generating system. I have a Todd Henning Motoplat and modified alternator mount that never made it onto my bike - all new and ready to go.... But you also need better forks and frame bracing and a better/braced swingarm
I know of a feller who uses CB450 crank.
See the gear driven clutch? Compare piston to bore size! Notice web added between the cylinders?. ...................lm
