I didnt know you could order bearings and seals by specifications directly from a bearing or seal supplier. I've been relying on what a middleman in Thailand thinks might fit. I've only been working on the old Hondas for a couple years and there's a lot I don't know yet. I think this is 5th one Ive gone through that has had that seal torn up. Do you set the new one with a socket and mallet?
Steve
Steve, I get a lot of seals, O-rings and bearings from McGuire Bearing in Portland. Sometimes if they don't have the o-ring I need, just up the street is Oil Filter Service, lots of o-rings!

The bearings are the left crank bearing which is pretty much unobtainable now. It superseded to a lawmower part number and this is from a CJ360T with the same dimensions. I got another from CMS (their last one..) so I am OK for my next few crank rebuilds.... :-)

Unobtainable now? I have a few of those, just ran across them Saturday while sorting parts.

Hang on to them. I'm sure that there are plenty around the world in people's parts stores but I found it hard to locate them at any of the usual places. CMS reckoned they had three in stock but could only find one. A normal 72mm OD bearing is a fraction of the price so I am going to try and machine some sleeves to make them up to 77mm. I also have a pile of the 75mm OD earlier type but those are destined for my 1960 Dream motors.
My intention is to rebuild a number of cranks and I just want to be able to get hold of the necessary parts having taken the trouble to build the tooling.

The actual CUSH came along around 1966 and the outer basket is totally different than yours.
The CUSH neoprene disk is between the sprocket and aluminum basket.
What you have now is a 1963 to 1966? issue clutch.
The 2 steel plates you show did come along about the time of the CUSH clutch and are the ones I recommend as they don't warp like the earlier issues (several different thicknesses) did.
Can you show a pic of the sprocket side of the 61 basket? ................lm

Not sure about that. It was just the one in my '63 'donor' engine. It was certainly different from the '61 clutch basket, which was held together with copper rivets straight into the sprocket. The clutch basket I used had steel rivets and a plate outside the sprocket which, I assume, is to sandwich the rubbers in the sprocket.

Many thanks for that. I only found two numbers for the clutch so I thought the change must have been earlier. Here are some pics of the '61 basket. If you need any more just shout. I am in Atlanta for a few days so work (well play, really) will be interrupted until next week..... :-)
