carb overflowingcarb overflowingOn my '66 Scramber, the left carb is leaking gas when I open the petcock. It ran great last fall.
Is the float stuck? Is there an easy fix. Or should I rebuild the carb? Thanks
tap itFirst try just gently but firmly tapping on the float bowl with a wrench or other hard object with petcock open. If it doesn't stop, turn off petcock and pop off float bowl, turn on petcock and see if you can turn off flow by pushing float up. You can remove float, valve, and seat with carb on bike if it needs cleaning. Make sure float is not hanging up on bowl gasket when reassembling. If it was running well before sitting up the float level probably hasn't changed. If you need to adjust float level it's a lot easier with carb off the bike.

oopsJust realized you were talking about a CL...oops, getting to the left carb a bit trickier on a scrambler. Maybe could reach up in there with a socket extension or something and tap on it, but removing float bowl and cleaning seat and needle with carb on bike could be more difficult than on a CB.
