My Dream in Progress

Post by hotrodhendrix » Fri Apr 17, 2015 11:20 am

Well its nearing completion so figured I would post her up finally. Purchased two years ago for $100 bucks in what only can be described as junkyard metal. After MANY ebay purchases and MANY hours of building/restoring/ parts hunting this is her.

Image

Frame/motor is 64 dream
Early dream solo sprung seat (yahoo japan find)
Early dream luggage rack altered (yahoo japan find)
Elk hide covered seat and handle grips
Bronze dream 305 badges (bill silver private collection find)
Earl dream NOS tank altered on the sides for no covers and to accept the badges. Painted/clear
Rebuilt rear shocks. - Powder coated tops and bottoms, Powdercoated metal covers body color and painted lower previously chrome cover the same alumablast clear coated.

Polished motor fins
Drag bars powdercoated body color
All hardware removed and military grade cad coated
Powder coated it myself (all the green/black is powder)
Painted the silver myself as well. Eastwood Alumablast auto spray version clear coated
Kenda 100/90 tires, yokohama tubes, cad coated stock spokes/nipples, painted rims
New wiring harness
Lith-ion battery with hold down altered to see battery display
NOS coil pack, side cover knobs
LED tail light/tac lights
Rebuilt carb, Speedo, basically anything that could come apart
All new rubber/ poly replacements
Aftermarket cheapo mufflers which I actually think go real well with the bike
New pads and all hub bearings
Steering neck bearings replaced with high quality bearings and high end bearing grease

Think that is about it... I will have to find a before pic and stuff to post in project section. It had chopped rear fender, locked motor, chopped front fender, missing battery cover, missing carb cover, rims bad, rusted, and basically eaten by rats.

Enjoy,
~James

James

I really like the look of what you have done with your Dream apart from the droopy mufflers. You need to perk them up a little... :-)

The seat and everything else looks neat. A vestigial chain guard might work, too....

Thanks!
Yeah this pic is actually a few weeks old. Chain guard is now on and the mufflers are actually attached haha. They were just hanging for test fitment in the pic :)

Hopefully I will have completed pics over the weekend when I finish buttoning up a few random issues I had.

James, how did you find dealing with Yahoo Japan to order stuff. I noticed most listings say they worn't mail stuff to the U.S. They have sets of the front winker lenses that I need and you cannot find anywhere on eBay or elsewhere because they were on the domestic C71/C72/C77.

I use Buyee like Gman. Prices for shipping will be high just remember that. Think the seat was about 140 or 150 USD but after shipping the total was over double that.

Gman, I need the front lenses that go with the type that clamps to the tubular high handlebars of a 63. They are about 2 x 2 1/2". I really only need one in NOS shape.
