Used transmission swap 1965 CB77

Post by DallasWise » Mon Feb 23, 2015 6:59 pm

I'm swapping the transmission out of my 1965 CB77 for a used one off ebay. Does the year of the transmission matter or can any CB77 tranny fit into a 1965? Also, do you guys have any other tips for buying used transmissions? I've just been checking to see if all the gear dogs are intact...

Thanks so much!

Anything used will have wear, It's just a matter of how much. Find out what needs to be replaced and get new parts, or Consider X- ing the gears so that the dogs drive from the unworn side. Plenty of good reading in the archives on this topic.

Those transmissions are pretty tough and you should be able to find a good used one at a reasonable price. For your info if you get a complete trans you can interchange with a 305 Dream tranny but it has to be a complete transmission since they are geared differently.
