Years ago I ordered a whole slew of different cam chain connecting links form different Honda models. All 219 chains but they had different thickness side plates and different pin diameters and lengths.
Point I'm trying to make is that the master link you use has to match that particular chain.
I prefer to use a clip M/L but soft pin ends to rivet are OK too.
