Super Slow 65 CB77 Restoration commencesSo as time has passed since my call to ed my memory has faded a touch.
Well I decided to try it myself on this head and if I fail I will send Ed the second. I have the pins and rocker arms out now. Next is the Large nut next to the sprocket right? Remind me does that loosen towards the exhaust (punch downward on exhaust side)? Also the nut on the outside end of the shaft? Did that need to be removed? So far I have split a few pieces of wood (2x4 cuts) trying to lock the sprocket so I can remove the sprocket nut
Yes the big nut is left hand threaded so punch down on exhaust side!
A vise grips on the other side of the sprocket works well to hold it. The little nut only needs to be loosened way up and then drive on the bolt with a soft punch to knock the wedge lock loose. If you back the nut off flush with the end of the bolt you won't booger the threads! Well I have not done much recently with the bike. I have been working on a 1970 c70 as well. But I did just acquire these for the ridiculous price of $120 shipped :)
