Super Slow 65 CB77 Restoration commencesWell this noob has begun tearing into the engine. I have run into my first snag. The cam chain. Got the top cover off, removed the chain tensioner, it has some odd damage (see pic). Where is the master link...oh there it is about 5 links down the front. How do I get it up to the top. My guess is my pistons are stuck/tight as I can not rotate the chain at all. Any ideas here?
assuming the pistons are seized and you cannot rotate.
If the chain is over the front you may be able to use a flat blade screwdriver to push the clip down as the rounded end should be leading if installed correctly ( assuming you are splitting the bottom cases to retrieve.) Otherwise you might be able to place some rag below to catch and use a magnet to collect the components. If this doesnt work you may need to sacrifice the chain and grind off a link with a dremel to split. Worth covering everything but the exposed link to reduce the amount of metal getting into everything. The metal part you point to is normal. More of a problem is that the tensioner wheel looks beyond its best...
