CA78 struggles going up hillsCA78 struggles going up hillsHere's the data: 1966 CA78, 72 degree spring day, long slow rise hill, 215# rider, 130 main jet, needle jet clip at 2nd from the bottom, 3rd gear, half throttle.
What happens: Adding throttle up to and including WTO gets no more power. Question: Have I simply used up the 23 bhp or is something amiss? Thanks in advance. CA78 struggles going up hillshave you checked your points and time ?
If the ignition and valve (timing and clearances) are good and the general state of repair of your motor is OK then you are only left with the carb.
What do your plugs look like? You may need to look at the needle position and main jet to get things working nicely at higher throttle openings. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72
