XS650 Rim on CB77 HUB/Spokes

Post by dc2die4 » Wed Jun 04, 2014 1:51 am

I'm trying to find a set of rims for my CB77 project, and a friend recommended MikesXS for rims.

I'm thinking about going WM2x18 in the front and a WM3x18 in the rear. I would be using a CB77 front and rear hub. They do come pre-drillled with a 36 spoke layout.

EDIT: Example of rim - http://www.mikesxs.net/product/34-1902.html

Should it be a rather painless effort? would I be able to reuse my stock spokes?

Also, the only ones I see that are WM2x18/WM3x18 come in the shouldered variety - Are OEM CB77 rims nonshouldered? I would prefer an OEM look, but a little bit wider than stock.

Thanks,
Khanh

Even though they're drilled for 36 spokes, that doesn't assure they're drilled at the correct angle for the CB77 hubs. There are a lot of rims being offered for CB77's that aren't correct (usually drilled for CB160 diameter hubs), resulting in spokes that have a bend. Stock rims are steel, with no shoulders. Perhaps check with Buchanan Spoke and Rim, or another rim and wheel specialist to get the correct parts. Regards, Chase

These are the dimensions you need to ensure that you get the right rim / spokes. You might be lucky with other rims but luck is a strange commodity that runs out when you need it most......

.......in England (I just checked their site) have NOS and aftermarket rear rims and spoke kits for the CB77. I've bought lots of parts from them over the years for my S90 and CB175 and they are great to work with. Shipping has been good, a week or two. I live in Florida and I don't have any relatives or friends working there but I am telling it like it is. The guys in England are great and they love old bikes just like us.
