CYB parts demand/rarity

Hey guys been bit by the CYB bug as of late. I wasn't aware of the rarity of these pieces. From a 2k CYB seat to a $600 pair of velocity stacks on Ebay, I'm wondering who is really in the market for such parts at these insane prices? I mean if a seat costs anywhere from 1500-2000 what could pair of rear sets fetch? Clip -ons? I mean are people really buying these things at these outrageous prices? I have a couple CYB parts myself but never knew the rarity of these parts. I wanna hear what you guys think!

I wouldn't but at those prices.

I know the original NOS CYB seat, did 500euro on CMSNL 2 years ago. , then 1 year later, it was changed to 1000euro.

I don't know who would buy these parts for that money, if you really want the CYB (look) , just build your own parts.

Who cares about completely original parts if your not going to sell your bike anyway.

I sure as hell don't care about such stuff, because I ain't selling my CB77 in a 1000years !
Just have fun with it, build your own stuff and ride it. Your not enjoying your ride if you know your are sitting on a 2000bucks seat, I sure would not, I would be scared of a bike like that.

Not everybody sells CYB parts at ridiculous prices. I have managed to pick up quite a few parts at quite sensible prices. Just acquired a left hand footrest for about $50.

I have been slowly collecting CYB parts for a couple of years and will replicate the parts that I am unable to find. I now have the meggas, air tubes, gear and brake levers, replica rear fender and seat. I have the right hand CYB camshaft and will get a standard left hand part modified to the same profile.

My friend has a CYB72 which is probably the most complete race kit bike in captivity. It even has the covers for the front exhaust headers.

wow that bike looks badass G! I think its just part of the whole availability thing that has the prices going through the roof. I know paying big bucks for the parts seem crazy but at the same time its just something about having all the original parts as well. Currently i see a set of NOS CYB pegs on an auction site that has it listed currently for 1000 euro and climbing. Maybe people here in the US don't really want to spend this kind of money but it looks like people across the pond are willing too. I wonder why is this? I have notice this as well in other hobbies that i am involved with as well. People in Europe spend crazy money on there hobbies like myself! :P

Fab60, I am sorry to hear of your recently acquired illness. I to was bitten by the bug,a long time ago when in 1987 Classic Bike magazine ran a article on Pete Rhodes and featured a CB72 that he had "kitted", that was it I had to have / build one.
Well its 2014 and its still not finished so be warned !
Indeed I feel lucky in that I have managed to steer away from any crime to help fund the obsession (just) though with some of the current prices robbery may be a tempting thought.
As Bonjour and G-man have said it is possible to make some replica parts, of course this may still leave you feeling a desperate need for the genuine stuff in which case I wish you lots of patience and / or a understanding bank manager.

Correct if I did go with a replica version of anything it will just be just that "replica". It is often hard to swallow when in you bump into the real thing when yours is not! HAHA. I need to go look for a bank now.

Yes - that collecting instinct is a very powerful one, but the internet is a great resource now and allows like-minded people from across the world to become friends.

Thanks to generous people like Gordon and others, I am well on the way to a nice race-kitted bike.

All you have to do is keep looking and asking people that you meet in person and on line. It's surprising what people have both consciously and unconsciously.
